Connections

Let your assistant keep Money.

Grok Bot, Muse or your ChatGPT dot signs in to Money and adds what you spend. You confirm each one.

How it connects

Each one signs in to Money with this address:

https://moneymoneymoney.app/mcp

Money asks you to sign in, says which assistant it is and where you go back to, and asks you to allow it. Choose Allow. There is nothing to copy. Disconnect it at any time in Settings, Connections; what it added stays.

Give it these instructions, where it keeps them:

When I tell you about money I spent or received, add it to Money with add_transactions. Use today's date unless I say another day, the currency I paid in, and the shop's or person's name as the description. Amounts are positive; use direction "in" for money I received. Never guess an amount; ask me. After adding, tell me in one line what was added or skipped.

Grok Bot

  1. In a chat with your Bot, say:
Add a custom MCP server called Money at https://moneymoneymoney.app/mcp. It uses streamable HTTP and OAuth.
  2. On the card the Bot shows for Money, choose Authorize. Sign in to Money and choose Allow.
  3. Open the Bot's menu, choose Edit Profile, and paste the instructions into its description.
  4. In your next message, try: “Lunch at Matsuya, 890 yen.”

Muse

  1. In Muse, open Settings, Connectors, and add a custom connector with https://moneymoneymoney.app/mcp. Or ask Muse: “Add a custom connector for Money at https://moneymoneymoney.app/mcp.”
  2. Muse opens Money. Sign in and choose Allow.
  3. Ask Muse to remember the instructions, then try: “Taxi home, 1,800 yen.”

ChatGPT and your dot

  1. In ChatGPT, open Plugins, choose +, then Add custom MCP server. Name it Money, and under Connection paste https://moneymoneymoney.app/mcp.
  2. Choose OAuth for authentication, then I understand and want to continue and Create as a plugin. Sign in to Money and choose Allow.
  3. In your dot's profile, open Customize, Plugins, and add Money. Then tell your dot the instructions.
  4. Try: “Coffee at Starbucks, 620 yen.”

From your banks, every two hours

Grok Bot and your dot each have a computer of their own. They can read your banks' websites as you would, keep each account's balance and add what is new, with no bank connection in Money. Accounts appear in Money the first time a balance names them, and nobody types a balance. Sending the same days again adds nothing twice, so each run can look back a week.

  1. When it opens a bank that asks for a sign-in, it hands the sign-in to you: type your password and codes yourself. It asks again whenever a bank wants a new code.
  2. Ask it once:
Open each of my banks in your browser: <my banks>. For each, send every account's balance as the bank shows it now to Money with update_balances, named as the bank names it, with today's date. Then read the completed transactions from the last 7 days, not pending ones, and add them with add_transactions, at most 100 a call: the date, the amount as shown and positive, the currency, the merchant as description, direction "in" for money received, account set to the same account name, and id set to the bank's own reference, or else bank-date-amount-merchant. Money skips what it already has. Change nothing at the banks: never pay, send or change a setting. If a bank needs me to sign in, tell me and go on with the others. Finish with one line per bank: balances kept, added, skipped, or what stopped you.
  3. When it works, say: “Save that as a skill called Update Money.” Then: “Every 2 hours, run Update Money.”

A bank may not allow its website to be read by a bot; check its terms.

Finding missing receipts

Money knows which payments came without a receipt. Home shows them under Transactions, with a prompt to copy, each payment named by its code. Give it to your assistant: it looks in your email and on the shops' websites, and sends each receipt it finds to its payment with attach_receipt, as a PDF or a picture. Money keeps it on the payment and reads every line, as it does with a receipt you drop.

Correcting and removing

Tell your assistant what is wrong and it puts it right: “The Starbucks yesterday was 640 yen, and it was a business coffee.” It changes a payment with edit_transactions (the date, the shop, the amount and currency, in or out, the account, the category, business or personal, the note) and takes one out with delete_transactions, such as a double. It names each payment by its code, by the id Money gave it when it was added, or by its own id from then. A removed payment is cancelled, never erased, and keeps who removed it and why.
